How do I contact customer service?
There are two ways to contact Dollar's car rental customer service department: through the Dollar Rent A Car web site at Contact Us; and via E-mail at cservice@dollar.com.

What does base rate mean?
Base rate - total cost of rental not including the taxes, fees, surcharges, mandatory coverages, mileage (if applicable) and optional items (child seats, navigational systems, additional driver, coverages ..ect ).

Where are the Local Policies located?
If you have already made a DOLLAR reservation the policies can be found under the 'View, Modify, or Cancel a Reservation' section on our site.  Local Policy can also be found in our email confirmation.

If you have not made a reservation please refer to the Local Policies, found within the booking process, for specific information regarding your rental.

If I use a car rental upgrade coupon, does that mean I am guaranteed a larger rental car when I check in at the rental car counter?
An upgrade coupon entitles renters to a larger vehicle than was originally reserved. However, all rental car upgrades are subject to vehicle availability at the time of rental.

How do I use a coupon?
When making your online rental car reservations, you will need to include the promotion code associated with the car rental coupon in the appropriate field. If you are making your car rental reservations over the phone, be sure to advise the reservation-sales agent of the promotion code. Once you arrive at the counter to pick up your vehicle, you must surrender the actual rental car upgrade coupon to the counter agent. Please remember to read the terms and conditions for all car rental coupons, as not all coupons are applicable to every situation.

How can I get my promotional discount?
When you are checking rental car rates or making car rental reservations online, you will have the opportunity to enter your promotional discount number in the "Promotion Code" field. You will receive the appropriate discount when you arrive at the rental car counter.

How can I apply for a corporate car rental discount?

When do I pay for my rental car?
You pay for your rental car when you return your vehicle. However, a hold may be placed on your credit card at the time of rental. You will need to check the local policy for your place of rental, which is available online when you check rental car rates or make a reservation.

Can I get lower car rental rates by calling Dollar's rental car reservation center rather than booking online?
When you check rental car rates using the Dollar Rent A Car web site, you will be accessing the very best car rental rates available for your rental period.

What information do I need to have with me when I arrive at the Dollar car rental counter?
When you arrive at the rental counter, you will need to show a valid driver's license along with an acceptable credit card.

What happens if the rental vehicle gets a flat?
If you have any maintenance issues with your Dollar rental vehicle, you should contact us at 800-235-9393 (from anywhere in the United States and Canada).

Can I keep my Dollar rental vehicle for longer than agreed to in the car rental contract?
If you would like to keep the vehicle longer than what is stated in the rental car agreement, you must contact the car rental location where you picked up the rental vehicle to receive authorization and find out about additional costs you might incur.

How old do I have to be to rent a vehicle from Dollar Rent A Car?
The minimum age to rent a Dollar vehicle at most Dollar rental car locations in the United States and Canada is 21 years of age. For more detailed information please click here.

Can I use my debit card?
Many Dollar car rental locations accept the use of a debit card for car rental or car return; however, please refer to the Local Policies, found within the reservation process for specific information regarding debit card use at the Dollar Location where you intend to rent the Dollar vehicle. A credit check will be performed on customers presenting a debit card as payment at the time of rental. Please see the General Procedures and Policies section for more information.

Can I drive the rental vehicle into different states or to Mexico and Canada?
At most Dollar car rental locations, driving is restricted to the Continental United States and Canada. Please refer to the Local Policies, found within the reservation process, for specific information regarding geographic limitations at the Dollar rental car location where you intend to rent a Dollar vehicle.

Can I reserve a specific make, model, or color of vehicle?
No. We are unable to guarantee a specific make, model, or color of vehicle; however, we do guarantee that the class (size) of rental car reserved will be available at the rental car location.

How do I add an additional driver to my reservation?
An additional authorized driver must satisfy the age requirements of DOLLAR, have a valid drivers license and must meet other rental car requirements, which vary by DOLLAR car rental location. For more detailed information please click here.
