Austin Car Rentals
Finding great rental cars in Austin is simple!
Has your family seen the capital of Texas? If not, it's time to pick up an Austin rental car and enjoy all that the city has to offer - from bats to delicious Tex-Mex! This Southern city may be the Live Music Capital of the World, but it is also very family-friendly and holds something for everyone. Fly into the Austin-Bergstrom International Airport, hop in a Austin car rental and start your adventure!
Batty for animals
You won't have to go far in your Austin rental car to enjoy 300 animals and more than 100 species. The Austin Zoo and Animal Sanctuary is located just outside of town and hosts special events throughout the year. Kids can also have a hands-on experience at the Feeding Corral, where they can get close to deer, goats and llamas. Later, head downtown to see an exciting phenomenon! Austin is famous for being home to the world's largest urban bat colony - but don't worry, these bats aren't scary. From March to November at dusk, approximately one million bats fly out from under the Ann W. Richards Congress Avenue Bridge and head for food. Your family can watch comfortably from a blanket at the Austin Bat Observation Center.
Life of a farmer
If your kids have any interest in farming or just enjoy seeing fun exhibits, check out the Jourdan-Bachmann Pioneer Farms. Austin is known for sourcing local produce, but this working farm shows visitors what agriculture was like in the 1800s. The farm encompasses more than 90 acres that show several types of farms throughout the late 1800s. The farm also hosts special annual events, such as a Halloween hay ride. Don't forget to stop by the general store, where you can taste some of the most delicious desserts or find natural products, making you believe you must have traveled back to the 19th century.
Land before time
Do you have little ones who are interested in prehistoric times? Take them to the Dinosaur Park Toystore, which offers life-sized dinosaur replicas on nature trails and a gift shop with dinosaur toys, fossils, apparel and games. It's approximately 20 minutes away in Cedar Creek, Texas, and you can get there with your Austin car rental. When you're back in town, be sure to allow time to eat at some of Austin's best restaurants! Freddie's Place hosts live music that is not only entertaining, it's usually kid-friendly. Ski Shores Cafe on Lake Austin has a gated play area that your kids will enjoy when they're waiting for their food, and on Fridays they host a family movie night!
