Richmond Car Rentals
Finding great rental cars in Richmond is simple!
When you’re planning a family vacation to Richmond, Virginia, there will be no shortage of activities to keep your children engaged and get them excited about the country’s rich history. Founded in 1737, Richmond is ripe with historical landmarks, river attractions and kid friendly activities, all of which attract more than 5 million visitors each year. Park your Richmond car rental and treat yourselves to a day on the St. James River, or embark on state capitol tour. If you want to see more of what Virginia has to offer, hop in your Richmond rental car and enjoy a drive along the ocean or through one of the city's neighboring historic towns.
Wet ‘n Wild
Richmond’s St. James River is one of the nation’s largest river systems. From river rafting to sunbathing, your family can do it all, and there’s parking for your Richmond rental car at most locations. If your family enjoys fishing, try catching smallmouth bass at Pony Pasture. There, you’ll also find access for whitewater boating. Take the older kids to Pipeline or Trestle Trail. Visitors can climb down a metal ladder and walk on the pipeline, which offers views of Great Blue Herons nestling on the river. Richmond also offers a Canal Walk that covers 1.25 miles through downtown and allows families to learn about Richmond’s history through medallions, monuments and exhibits.
On To Richmond!
“On To Richmond” was a battle cry that inspired 19th century troops to conquer the Confederacy’s capital. Now, it serves to call people to explore the great history of the area. There’s no better place to start than the Virginia Capitol. Designed by Thomas Jefferson, the capitol has been home to the General Assembly since 1788. It was recently restored and is one of several sites in the United States selected for inclusion on a new U.S. World Heritage Site tentative list. Guided tours are available to visitors seven days a week. If you’d rather take your own tour of the city, amaze your children by visiting Civil War sites and walking in the same spots Abraham Lincoln did just 10 days before his assassination.
Richmond is also the perfect proximity to Virginia’s other main attractions. Use your Richmond car rental to drive just 51 miles to historic Williamsburg. The city invites children to explore Colonial Williamsburg with fun, hands-on activities. Or, drive to Virginia Beach, just two hours away, and have some fun at the Virginia Zoo, Virginia Aquarium and Marine Center or on the boardwalk.
