Dollar Thrifty Automotive Group Marches Up Fortune List
TULSA, OKLAHOMA, March 24, 2004: Record 2003 revenues of $1.23 billion propelled Dollar Thrifty Automotive Group, Inc. (NYSE:DTG) forward 19 positions on the 2004 Fortune 1000 list released March 22. “After just cracking the Fortune 1000 list for the first time in 2003, we are proud of our progress. This reflects the determination of our employees and the strength of our two brands to grow our company and deliver excellent results,” Gary Paxton, President and Chief Executive Officer, said.
Dollar Thrifty made its debut last year as #999 on the highly recognized Fortune magazine list. The annual review ranks America’s elite, publicly owned businesses based on their revenues.
“Dollar Thrifty’s achievement is all the more impressive because the travel industry has yet to recover from the impact of the September 2001 terrorist attacks and economic recession,” Paxton said. “We are extremely proud of the company’s accomplishments and the success of our growth initiatives. During 2003, we acquired and/or opened 28 major U.S. and Canadian markets, and we improved our overall financial strength.”
Dollar Thrifty’s 2003 revenues were up 8.4 percent over 2002, and its total return to investors was 22.6 percent.
