3 tips for sleeping well aboard your flight

With all you've got ahead of you after a flight, from picking up your business travel car rental to finding your hotel in an unfamiliar destination, it's important to be well-rested. While some people can doze off just about anywhere, many have trouble falling asleep during their flights. Try these basic tips for getting some rest while in the air:

Create a comfortable environment
If you have trouble falling asleep in strange spaces, bring along some comforts from home, such as your pillow or a cozy blanket. You can also shut out sound with noise-canceling headphones and keep the light at bay with a sleeping mask.

Pick the right seat
If you don't want to deal with the bustle of people walking by during the flight, aim for a window seat when you're purchasing tickets. Those who want a little extra leg room might prefer an exit row seat. Keep in mind that some airlines only offer a limited number of reclining seats, in which case you may have to call in advance to request one.

Energize yourself afterward
Be sure to wake completely and be aware before getting behind the wheel of your airport car rental. Drink some water and chow down an apple for some revitalization, or amp up your energy with a cup of coffee if you're still feeling groggy.
