What you should have in your car during the winterTuesday, February 26, 2013 4:49:23 PM
If your next business trip is taking you somewhere that's due for a snowstorm, it's a good idea to keep a bag of survival essentials in your airport car rental. If you find yourself stranded in a snowstorm, these are the things you don't want to be without:
In the winter months, it's never a good idea to travel with less than three-quarters of a tank of gas. You will need as much gas as possible in the event of an emergency.
2. Warm clothing and blanket
Make sure you have warm clothing with you whenever you drive during the winter. It's also a good idea to keep a fleece blanket in the car for extra warmth.
3. Emergency kit
Keep a first aid kit in the car in case you are injured during an accident. You should also bring some food with you in the event that you are stranded for an extended period of time.
4. Cell phone
Your cell phone may not have service during a bad storm, but if it does, call for help immediately.
5. Large container or shovel
You may be able to free your car by digging it out of the snow with a shovel or large container. If not, the container can be used to collect snow to help you hydrate in an emergency.
