A recent survey by Frequent Business Traveler revealed that business travel will increase in 2013. If you're one of the many people who are hitting the road in a car rental, take time to be aware of new trends you might see in the hospitality industry.
One trend is that more people in the industry, such as hotel chains, will use social media to connect with travelers. According to FD Hospitality, more than one-fifth of the companies in the travel industry use social media to generate revenue. Anyone planning to book a hotel stay should check to see if the hotel has a Facebook page, which may let them know about special offers. Sites such as Pinterest and Instagram make it easier for business travelers to get a feel for the hotel before they visit because of photo sharing.
Travelers on the go will also find that it's becoming easier to book online or with their mobile device. More than 50 percent of bookings are made on the Internet, and mobile booking increased four-times between 2008 and 2010. Hotels are aware of this and taking steps to make it easier for people traveling in a small business car rental to find their night's stay.
