Know the pros and cons of business travel transportation optionsTuesday, January 29, 2013 5:27:01 PM
When you're on business travel, sometimes you might have to make a choice between public transit, a taxi or airport car rental. Different options work better for different needs, so it's important to be aware of the pros and cons to decide what will work best on your next trip.
Public transportation saves people money and alleviates worries about driving during bad weather. But its pitfalls include that it can be crowded - which makes it hard to travel with luggage - and often takes more time than if you were to take a direct route in a car. If you're tired and traveling, it can just be an added annoyance.
Taxis are a good idea for people who can't get a business car rental. The drivers will typically drive their riders from one place to another as quickly as possible, but there's never a guarantee of catching a cab, and the trips can add up quickly.
A car rental is probably the best bet for someone on business travel who will be heading to meetings. They also are good if parking and gas are not an issue and if you want the freedom of making your own travel plans. You don't even have to know the city: You can easily find your way around with a GPS app.
