All of the recent snowstorms and icy conditions causing travel troubles serve as a good reminder to be prepared for wintertime issues. Whether you're traveling on the road in your car rental or flying to to your destination, there are steps you can take to make your trip go more smoothly. Consider these helpful tips:
When the weather outside is frightful, expect the drive to the airport to be slow. Leave at least an hour early to give yourself extra time for traffic and last-minute emergencies. If you end up at the hub early, use the time to relax in the lounge or get a bite to eat.
Along with providing poor travel conditions, winter is also the peak season for the common cold and flu. Catching an ailment while away for work isn't just uncomfortable - it can be bad for business. Avoid getting sick while on your trip by getting your flu shot at least two weeks before your excursion, which is how long it takes for the antibodies in the vaccine to kick in. Additionally, be sure to avoid contact with sick people and wash your hands often. It may also be beneficial to keep hand sanitizer in the glove box of your business car rental.
