Tips for eating less junk while travelingTuesday, September 3, 2013 6:03:32 PM
Do you find that you make poor eating decisions while traveling for work and getting around in your corporate car rental? If so, Google may have the answer for ridding yourself of these unhealthy habits.
Google found that employees were eating far too much of the free candy that was left out for consumption. So, instead of leaving less snacks out for their employees to enjoy, the company put their data professionals to work. Shortly, they found that making a few simple changes would provide a difference in employee intake. The company placed candies in opaque containers, while health foods like fruits were left in glass jars - making them more visible. After seven weeks, one office consumed 3.1 million less calories in the form of candy.
So, simply not having candy in your airport car rental can do the trick. But what should you eat instead? Rather than pulling through the drive-thru, try to keep some healthy fruits on hand while you travel for business. Some of the best options are berries - including blueberries and raspberries. These little bites are easy to snack on while driving and loaded with a number of antioxidants and vitamins. You may also want to try out tart cherries, which have many anti-inflammatory properties in addition to high levels of antioxidants.
