Three safety tips for solo business travelersTuesday, February 26, 2013 2:13:07 PM
If you're tackling your next business trip solo, it's a good idea to take precautions to make sure you stay as safe as possible, especially if you're traveling to an unfamiliar city. Keep these safety tips in mind as you hop in your airport car rental:
Don't be a loner
Just because you're traveling alone doesn't mean you need to limit yourself to your hotel room and the boardroom. Try to make friends with other business travelers staying at your hotel, and walk purposefully with confidence wherever you go.
Check your information
Before embarking on a solo business trip, check your maps and transportation schedules. Knowing exactly how to get where you need to go and how long it will take will help you act with confidence and dissuade others from taking advantage of you.
Keep a low profile
Try not to draw attention to the fact that you're traveling alone. Do not disclose your itinerary to strangers and try to carry as little luggage as possible. If you need to ask someone for directions, tell them you're "meeting a friend."
