With the new year comes plenty of changes to the business travel industry. For instance, corporate car rental companies will start offering new deals to frequent customers and hotels rates are expected to rise slightly. But the massive merger between U.S. Airways and American Airlines may lead to the biggest changes for those who leave town for work.
According to Forbes, Delta may just be the best airline for business travelers. American Airlines, as well, is a top choice, because these major network carriers tend to offer lower prices, better frequent flyer programs and more schedule slots to choose from. The in-flight wireless access is another huge perk, especially for those who like to work while in the air.
Workers may also benefit from traveling through JetBlue. The carrier is preparing to launch its Mint program in summer 2014. Mint is a business-class service that spans the U.S. and lets passengers kick back and relax in lie-flat beds. And, compared to major airlines, it will also offer lower pricing to both small and large companies.
Another top airline for business travelers is Virgin America. The carrier is expanding its service at New York City's LaGuardia Airport.
