Business professionals who spend a lot of time on the road often have a difficult time choosing holiday gifts for their business partners in different states. When picking out gifts for your clients, a coworker who works remotely, or even a potential business partner, you don't want to seem unprofessional or inappropriate, but you also don't want to seem boring or lifeless. You also have to find something that will pack well and can easily be toted around in a business travel rental car. CNN and the Atlanta Journal-Constitution both offered tips and advice for picking out the perfect gifts this holiday season.

For work friends, CNN correspondent Kaitlin Madden said that you can be a little lenient about the nature of your gifts. Most friendly coworkers know at least a little bit about one another's likes and dislikes. Madden recommended simple gifts like origami post-its, gourmet snacks or board games.

For your high-end clients, you may want to invest in a more professional gift. If he or she also travels for work, a gas gift card for corporate car rentals could be a great idea. Madden also recommended ideas like smartphone cases, fleece blankets and high-quality hand creams.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution broke gifts down into a few work-appropriate categories: pampering gifts, playful gifts, office gifts, organizing gifts and literary gifts were a few great choices. Stick to these options and your gift is sure to be a hit.
