Business travelers may be affected by TSA fee hike

While Dollar Rent A Car continues to offer low prices in business car rental, the cost of traveling for work has continued to swell in recent years. Air travel is one of the biggest costs, and business travelers may be disappointed to hear that it has just become more expensive.
The Transportation Security Administration put a security fee into place after the events of 9/11, and starting July 21, the agency will raise that fee drastically. It was previously capped at $5 for a one-way ticket and $10 round-trip, but now that cap has been lifted and the fee has been raised to $5.60 for each leg of the flight. Layovers of more than four hours will cost each passenger an extra $5.60, which means a flight with a layover costs more than double the security fee.
Business travelers will be among the most affected by this fee hike, as layover flights are often selected in an effort to save money. It also adds to the already rising airfare rates that have been burdening business travelers due to limited competition among carriers. Those going out of town for work can offset these extra costs with money-saving methods such as staying at hostels versus hotels and searching for discount car rentals in a safe, cushioned spot in your business car rental.
