Dealing with construction season

There's an old saying about many Northern cities. Places like New York and Chicago have only two seasons: winter and construction.
Now that winter is behind us, the leaves are turning green and the sun is shining longer into the evening, it is time for major cities to start their summer construction projects. That can cause major headaches for business travel car rental customers. Here are some ways to avoid the problems that construction inevitably brings during the summer months:
Even before you leave on your trip, there's ways to know the issues you may face. Do some research on which roads will be torn up and how that will impact the traffic flow. The U.S. Department of Transportation has a listing of major construction projects in each state, giving corporate car rental customers the chance to know what they are getting into before their trip even begins.
Look for alternative routes
It is sometimes impossible to avoid a route that is under construction, but in most cities there is usually an alternative way to go. Figure out a backup plan before you start your trip and make sure to give yourself extra time to get from Point A to Point B. Remember that during construction season, you are likely not the only driver out there trying to avoid the roads that are being repaired.
