Hotel cleanliness for the business traveler

8/29/2014 6:00:37 PM

From the moment you exit your business car rental and step foot in the hotel, you become exposed to a slew of other people's germs. This isn't always a bad thing, but it does put you at risk of catching someone else's illness. For that reason, keep these hotel cleanliness tips in mind:

Research the hotel

Before booking your room, evaluate online reviews of the establishment. Sites such as Yelp!, TripAdvisor and even the Better Business Bureau will give you some insight into the just how clean the hotel is.

Assess the conditions

When you get in your room, give it a once-over. Pull back the bedspread, look between the mattresses, examine the bathroom and inspect glassware, keeping your eye open foe anything from bugs to hairs to dust. Don't forget to check the refrigerator and drawers for items left over by guests.

Speak up

If the conditions of your room aren't up to your standards, request that the staff conduct a more thorough cleaning. If they don't meet your needs, don't be afraid to request your money back, hop in your corporate car rental and head to another establishment.
