How to survive a long layover

Thursday, March 21, 2013 4:22:07 PM

It's a business traveler's worst nightmare: A long layover. When you have an extensive list of important meetings and clients awaiting you at the end of your flight, the last thing you want is to be stuck in the airport. But sometimes mother nature intervenes.

If you're caught in a long layover or flight delay, there are creative ways you can pass the time. Take out an airport car rental and do a bit of sightseeing - visit a museum or browse some shops to kill a few hours. Whatever gets you out of the airport and into the city will do a world of good for your sanity.

As long as you have your airport car rental, you may want to visit a local coffee shop with free Wi-Fi and catch up on some work. You'll be less likely to have to battle it out for an electrical outlet than you would be at the airport.

All in all, your layover doesn't have to be a complete waste of time. Whether you're exploring entertainment options at the airport or making new friends, if you use your time wisely, a long layover won't ruin your business trip.
