Many business travelers know of ways to maintain wellness on the road, such as keeping healthy snacks in your car rental to keeping up your exercise routine. But air travel can have its own negative effects on the body, especially if you're a frequent flyer. Try these tips for staying healthy on the plane:
Bring your meal
When healthy options are available on airplanes, they tend to be quite expensive. Prepare in advance by packing your meal at home. Light foods such as raw carrot sticks, celery and other veggies can fill you up and provide essential nutrients without leaving you feeling overstuffed. Keep in mind that dips and other liquids must fit within the 3-4 ounce FAA limit for liquids.
Even if you don't realize it, air travel can be quite dehydrating. Counter this by consuming a hydrating green smoothie at home, and avoid drinking coffee, soda and other caffeinated drinks that can actually make you more thirstier. You can even bring along individual packets of powder green juice in your carry-on to add to your water for enhanced hydration. Store the extras in your corporate car rental for on-the-go use during your trip.
