Summer safety essentials to keep in your car

Monday, June 24, 2013 4:40:37 PM

Summer may not immediately appear to be a season where airport car rental drivers need to be worried about road safety - chances are there won't be any unexpected snow storms - but there are certain things you should always keep with you in case of an emergency.

First-aid kit
There are plenty of compact first-aid kits available that can fit comfortably in a briefcase, so don't let business travel be an excuse for being unprepared. Even if you're dealing with something as minor as a paper cut, you'll be glad you have a first-aid kit handy.

In many parts of the country, the summer season brings crazy fluctuations in temperature. Make sure you're prepared by having a blanket in the car. It can be used to cover scorchingly hot seats or keep you warm on a chilly evening.

Have you ever thought about what you would do if your phone died and you were lost? Paper maps still serve an important purpose, so make sure to pick up a few just in case when you arrive in a new city.
