Explore what Portland has to offer
Portland, Oregon, has become known for its unique and somewhat offbeat culture, and its residents are perfectly fine with that. Home to several micro-breweries, spacious parks and friendly people, the city doesn't have the same hustle and bustle feel that many other major metropolis have. Yet there is still a lot for visitors to do in Portland. So pack your bags, head to the Pacific Northwest and check out these fun activities in and around Portland.
All visitors to Portland should check out Washington Park at 1715 SW Skyline Blvd., as every type of person will find something fun to do there. Acquired by the city in 1871, the park is now home to:
- Children's museum
- Tennis courts
- Grass fields
- More than 15 miles of hiking trails
- Running and bike paths
Roses are quite popular in Portland, and there is a specific rose garden inside of Washington Park. The park also has a Japanese Garden for guests to explore. No matter your interests, a trip to Washington Park is required for visitors to the city.
A little more than a hundred miles from Portland is the University of Oregon campus and Autzen Stadium, which is the home of the Oregon Ducks football team. Fans of big-time college athletics, wild atmospheres and unique fashion should make the trip in their Portland rental car to 2700 MLK Jr. Blvd. in Eugene, Oregon.
The Ducks are regularly ranked among the best teams in the country, and in January 2015, the school played for the National Championship. Autzen Stadium holds more than 55,000 fans, and with the locals' passion for the team combined with the way the building was constructed, the noise inside the stadium can become defining for opponents when the Ducks fans are all cheering. The Ducks' school colors are green and gold, but the team changes uniform styles on a weekly basis, meaning guests never know what they'll see when they arrive for the game.
