The University of Alabama at Birmingham football team started their Legion Field journey in 1991 with a 9-7 win over Hastings. The largest crowd ever recorded here, was for a 2003 football game against Southern Mississippi, where 44,669 fans packed the stadium. Since then, the facility has been renovated to reach a capacity of 72,000 seats. Famous players who have competed on this field include:

Oak Mountain State Park
If you're looking for outdoor adventure, drive your Birmingham rental car to this Alabama state park. You'll love the over 50 miles of hiking, biking, and horseback riding trails through this 9,940-acre park. Head to one of the park's two lakes to go fishing, rent a canoe, and swim at the sandy beaches. No gas-operated motors are allowed but electric trolling motors, canoes, kayaks, and rowboats are encouraged.
