M&T Bank Stadium
Take a trip in your Baltimore rental car to visit the home of the Ravens National Football League team. This stadium was the first in the U.S., including all NFL and Major League Baseball stadiums, to receive the LEED-certified "Gold" status for its green building strategies. With a capacity of just over 71,000, the stands are ablaze with purple and black, the Raven's colors.
The Ravens were named after an extensive search of focus groups, panel discussions, and fan polling during which the name "Ravens" came up over and over again. Fans hold the bird in reverence akin to that of Edgar Allan Poe, who once called Baltimore home and found the bird fascinating and stately.
The Book Thing
If you find yourself in Baltimore on a weekend, head to this unique bookstore where everything is free. That's right, all of the books are free. The store is open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. for all your literary needs.
Those interested in donating are encouraged to stop by at any time and leave their unwanted books in the donation bins at the front. They also accept magazines. If you are looking to make a tax-deductible donation do so when the store is open in order to receive a receipt for your records. The catch? You can only take 150,000 books per day per person. That's a lot of reading!
If you have a little swashbuckler on your hands, they'll need their eye patch and parrot for this adventure! Drive your Baltimore rental car to the Ann Street Pier to board FEARLESS, a real-life pirate ship! This 52-foot-long vessel is Coast Guard certified to carry 49 passengers and is fully-equipped with lifesaving equipment.
