3 moments you could be using more productively

When on a business trip, you probably spend most of your time on an airplane, driving a car rental or in meetings. You may be surprised to learn, however, that there are pockets of time during your trip that you could be using more productively.

While you drive
As you drive, you can think about the speech or presentation that you are about to give. Run through the major talking points you need to touch on, paying specific attention to the ones you can't remember or that trip you up. When you arrive at your destination, take a moment to study those parts and memorize what you have forgotten. Your clients will be impressed with your thoroughness and ability to speak effectively.

On the plane
With the ability to access Wi-Fi on airplanes, there is almost no time when you won't be able to answer emails and do some work. You may need to pay an extra fee to be able to use it, so consider that when budgeting your trip. If you travel often, you may want to invest in a hot spot that you can bring wherever you are. You won't have to worry about questionable connections if you bring your own.

Take advantage of apps and travel sites
Technology has made business travel infinitely more manageable. While you're away, utilize your phone's GPS and maps for help getting around in more easily. Some programs such as Waze give you destination-specific directions that help you avoid traffic. Those who go abroad may want to use translation apps, while sites like Yelp and Urbanspoon can help you find the best places to eat or drop off your dry cleaning leaving you with more time to attend business meetings.
