Business travelers rely on the webWednesday, July 17, 2013 11:07:23 AM
Do you ever feel stressed out when you don't have access to the Internet during business travel? Turns out, you're not the only one.
According to a survey of road warriors conducted by InterContinental Hotels Group, 61 percent of business travelers said that Internet access was the most important hotel amenity, while 89 percent said that free Internet would make them happier while traveling for business.
From booking flights to securing discount car rentals, having Internet access has become increasingly central to making sure that business trips run smoothly. Many have also found it to be an important way to connect with people back home while they're on the road.
"Just hearing a voice on a telephone is no longer sufficient for the 21st century traveler, we need the comfort of being able to see our loved ones too," Jenni Trent Hughes, a relationship expert, explained in a statement. "We want to see our children's smiles when we're reading them their bedtime story over Skype; be able to look our partner in the eye when we tell them how much we miss them, as well as keep up with all our social media obligations and emails."
