Family fun runs wild in Tampa
If several members of your brood are fans of wildlife, there's few better cities than Tampa to plan your family vacation around. Book your tickets, decide on a hotel and reserve a rental car in Tampa. This metropolitan destination in Florida is a great choice for families with animal-loving kids. With plenty to do, this vacation will be one the whole family remembers fondly.
Get up close with wildlife
Take that Tampa car rental straight to Busch Gardens, where your kids will be dying to see the exotic wildlife. At the Jungala section of the onsite zoo, children can visit orangutans, elephants and meerkats. The bravest visitors can even play tug-of-war with a Bengal tiger. Little ones who are a bit fearful of those giant fangs can choose to play the game through a safety fence.
Check out a new world
Appreciate Florida's marine life
Take the kids over to the Florida Aquarium in your Tampa car rental and show them that there's another world underwater. There are plenty of sea creatures to look for including sharks, penguins, stingrays and alligators. The Florida Aquarium is more than just animal exhibits - it's a learning experience for kids and parents alike. The Coral Reef Gallery, Florida Wetlands Gallery and Florida Bays and Beaches Gallery all aim to teach visitors about the ecology and importance of the world's many dynamic underwater habitats.
The gentle marine mammals known as manatees have become well-known within the past few years. Teach the kids about the importance of preserving natural wildlife by taking them on a tour to swim with or see these vegetarian giants. Some of these tours offer snorkeling or canoeing to get up close with the manatees. While some boat tours depart from Tampa, you can also drive your Tampa rental car about an hour north to the Crystal River, a major manatee sighting area. If your kids are intent on seeing a manatee, keep in mind that Crystal River is an official manatee sanctuary that is closed to the public from mid November through the end of March.
