Coronavirus (COVID-19)

Whether you rent a car at the airport or at one of our neighborhood locations, we’re here to support your travel needs. At Dollar we strive to make your travels easier, and our focus remains on getting you on your way safely and confidently.

We are closely monitoring Coronavirus (COVID-19) and following the current guidance from the leading government and health authorities to ensure we are taking the right actions to protect our customers, employees and the communities where we operate.

Please also know that we continue to maintain our high standards for safety and cleanliness. In addition to practicing preventative measures to reduce the spread of germs within our facilities, all of our vehicles go through a rigorous, multi-step cleaning process for each rental. We are remaining vigilant in upholding these practices and will take additional precautions as recommended by the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC), World Health Organization (WHO) and local governments.

Your safety is our priority.

To help protect you – and help ensure the health and safety of everyone – we will start requiring customers and employees at our locations to wear masks effective July 27. According to the CDC, masks help prevent the spread of Covid-19. Therefore, we ask you wear yours across all Dollar touchpoints. Young children (aged 3 or below) and anyone with a health condition that prevents them from wearing a mask are exempt. This is one more step we’re taking to ensure your Dollar rental is the safest way to travel. Before each rental our cars are cleaned and disinfected according to CDC guidelines following our multi-point cleaning process. Dollar Express® members can also skip the counter altogether and go straight to their cars.* *Available at select airport locations

We have enhanced our cleaning practices:

Around the world, we have enhanced our cleaning methods at our locations and our shuttle buses including using approved disinfectant to regularly wipe down high-touch areas such as door handles, counters, kiosks and other hard surfaces.

We’ve added more alcohol-based hand sanitizers and are reminding employees to take important hygiene steps, including frequent handwashing and staying home if ill.

Following CDC guidelines, our vehicles are cleaned and disinfected with our multi-point cleaning process:

1. Disinfect vehicle at return area

2. At cleaning area, inspect interior of vehicle, tires and overall vehicle condition

3. Check wiper fluid and replenish if needed

4. Remove trash and lost/found items

5. Vacuum trunk, front seat area and rear seat area

6. Clean window interiors

7. Spray odor eliminator

8. Disinfect all high-touch contact areas (steering wheel, consoles, door handles, etc)

9. Wash exterior of vehicle

10. Perform quality check

11. Move vehicle to parking stall

12. Disinfect driver area again and perform final check
